What's the best model available? I thought there were going to be (just?) 1965 of the Lennon models made, and there is a Casino called the John Lennon model on musicians friend and similar sites.

looking more closely, I see that the model on MF is still the 1965. I guess I had assumed the original run had sold out.

The 1965 is made in the Terada factory in Japan where they make Gretches, and has a nitro lacquer finish and USA/Gibson parts. It comes in the Revolution model (sanded down, blond) or the 1965 model, sunburst. That's the "top" model. I know that originally they made a limited edition of these, maybe 1965 of each model total. I don't personally know whether they made more of them, or whether MF and others still have some of the original run in stock. I've got one of the original Revolution models, it's an amazingly good guitar assuming you can live with the narrow neck profile. The next model down is the Elitist model, also made in the Terada factory in Japan, but with a poly finish. Otherwise the Elitist is almost identical (There may be a slight difference in headstock shape). Far below those are the Korean made casinos.

Now there are two new models "inspired by John Lennon" that are quite like the original John Lennon runs.

I own 2 MIK Casinos , 1 Natural and 1 Vintage Sunburst. I've ' Lennonized ' both of them and I'm very happy with them. They're great players and they sound terrific !!! I've never had any problems with either of them.

Watching the Beatles Anthology , I see John used his Rick up to about Revolver. But when did John start to use a Casino? It seems he never used the Rick again. I know people here more about this than I do

Terry, yes, I can see the appeal of that particular model.

Thanks for the responses. I had thought there was some other model released, but that's not so.

I believe John started using the EC in 66.

I compared an Elitist model to a 1966 vintage Casino thru an tube AC15TV with both pups on and everything turned up. The Elitist model had less bright high end! However, it had considerable less hum! After taking a compass to the pups face up I saw that The Elitist had opposite poles on the pups whereas the 1966 had the same poles. So, this explained the lower hum on the Elistist, i.e., both pups were acting as a humbucker since they were opposite poles. But, considering the massive hum from the vintage 1966 in a practical sense the Elistist is a better 'working' guitar. Now, if the Lennon 1965 reissues have the opposite pup poles also, and if Lennon's original Casino did not, then the Lennon 1965 reissues are NOT a true issue! They are different!!!
